    The Realization

When I started this project, I had a very detailed project management timeline established, with goals and objectives. However, with classwork and internships, it became clear that some deadlines may have to be passed, some objectives may not be as important. Yet, I’ve come to that point that most college students always hope to: the realization.

The realization that you’ve found something that makes you incredibly excited to go to work, whether it be in an office, coffeeshop or makeshift desk in your apartment. The realization when someone asks what your dream job is, that on a good day, you have it.

How does it correlate to this senior project? It further solidifies my idea of my personal brand and the goals that encompasses for my professional growth. It serves as the ideal dessert at the end of a perfect meal. It satisfies and it is oh so sweet.

    (Re)Building the Brand

As someone who has been very active in the social media sphere for a few years, branding is very important. Your brand sticks with you. It’s what represents you when you aren’t physically present.

For the past year or so, I’ve simply let my brand exist in the occasional chaos that is social media. What has resulted?

    …it’s not a seamless brand experience…

Now given that I don’t have the best web development expertise, I’m rather at the mercy of what I can figure out, but it should be in a format that best represents who I am.

Equally important (or even perhaps more important) than the visual appearance of my brand is the values that my brand represents. It needs to be consistent, and simultaneously define my goals, experiences, skills and personal values all in one. I predict a lot will be changing as I near graduation, and I cannot any longer define myself as the intern or the student.

Stay tuned for more musings as I discover more about the evolution my brand post-college…

    My Senior Project

As I approach graduation in a mere 5 months (holy crap, where has time gone?!?!) I reflected on my college experience and one thing was missing that I knew I could change. Many students I know have to write a final thesis paper or present a final research project. I presented a final marketing strategy with three other teammates this fall, but I wanted a project that I could make my own and find the benefits to my own marketing tactics.

So over the next five months, I’ll be applying my knowledge of strategies I already know or don’t already know to further develop my personal brand, the brands of organizations I freelance or volunteer for or will soon assist, and hopefully, have quite the story. The objective will be to present a form of case study (though not really one since I wouldn’t have an unbiased approach) of how my methods will recreate a brand and use online mediums of project management tools, social media, and other learning tools to redefine a graduating senior.

I know it sounds vague right now, but as the months go by it will start to make more sense.
